Building California’s clean energy future

Vistra Zero

As California continues its transition toward clean and renewable energy resources, the need for efficient and cost-effective ways to store electricity has grown increasingly important.

Vistra, with its portfolio of zero-emission power generation resources known as Vistra Zero, is proud to be a leader in the clean energy transition. Vistra is committed to powering the Golden State toward a clean energy future by building a fleet of zero-emission, battery energy storage facilities. See what California’s clean energy future will look like.

Vistra number icon 1

Our initial goal is to develop three battery energy storage facilities throughout California that, when completed, will generate approximately 2,100 MW of electricity.

Vistra number icon 2

Vistra aims to grow its zero-carbon Vistra Zero portfolio across the country to 7,400 MW by 2026. This includes 5,000 MW of renewables and energy storage and a 2,400-MW emission-free nuclear facility.

Vistra number icon 3

Our initial energy storage projects will be developed on existing power plant sites where either natural gas or oil power plants were originally built. The facilities are in Oakland, Moss Landing and Morro Bay.

Our California projects

To meet our goal of net-zero by 2050, we continue to retire fossil fuel-powered plants and make investments in solar and batteries.
